We are excited to host Prof Judy Wawira Gichoya (Emory University, USA) hase joined us at the University of Pretoria from 8 to 25 July 2025 as a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow.
Prof Gichoya is an Associate Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine and co-director of the Healthcare AI Innovation and Translational Informatics (HITI) Lab. She is internationally recognized for her work on health equity, AI fairness, and building real-world health datasets for responsible AI deployment in healthcare. Many may also remember her keynote at Deep Learning Indaba 2024.

One of the highlights of this visit will be a two-day Health AI Datathon focused on tackling real-world African health data challenges.
Datathon Details:
